Why a prayer room?

Locating the prayer relay in a specific location seems to be one of the keys to the effectiveness of 24-7.

The Holy Spirit can fill a place; there's often a strong sense of God's presence in a place of prayer, and

it is felt by non-Christians too.

The prayer room enables people to pray non-verbally by posting artwork, poetry, graffiti on the walls.

The room also provides accountability – having a specific place ensures people turn up and the baton of

Prayer is passed on from one shift to the next, rather than saying they'll pray then falling asleep or

forgetting (speaking slightly shame-facedly from experience!) Visiting the room becomes a mini

pilgrimage.

A shared location provides a strong sense of being part of a community: carrying each others' burdens,

Celebrating the breakthroughs together and ministering to one another, so that you feel valued as much

more than just a link in a prayer chain.
