INSTRUCTIONS

This course is offered for use in a variety of ways:

 you can use it in the traditional way as the programme for a small group, meeting in church, hall, or home in Lent,

     or at some other time.

 you could adapt it to provide sermon topics, or material for a Lenten service, with or without discussion (either

afterwards over a cup of tea, or on a separate occasion).

 you could use it to provide material for a PCC to discuss, perhaps for just 30 minutes at the start of meetings over

      several sessions.

 you could use the topics in a Clergy Chapter, or even for a Deanery Conference.

Traditionally Lent courses have offered five sessions, to fit into Lent from the first Sunday and finish before Holy

Week.  We have given you more than five topics, so that you can select the most useful.

Mix the ingredients to suit your appetite.  One small group might want to start with the Bible passage and then use the

questions, adding their own.  Another group might want to start with the “imagine” section.  A service or sermon might

use the Bible passage as reading, and develop one or more of the questions in relation to the local situation.
